In this work, the artist reinterprets the Statue of Liberty as a symbol of the courage that runs through every transplant. The torch becomes a living heart, a beating organ that lights up the darkness of uncertainty: it is the donated heart, the awaited one, the one that begins again. The figure, though iconic, appears human: not a goddess, but a silent witness to the moment when medicine meets hope. The pop lines and bold colors that have always distinguished the artist are a tribute to the strength of patients, donors, and those who work in the operating room: people who face choices every day, where the greatest freedom is the freedom to give a future. The posture conveys solidity, but the heart held in her hands speaks of fragility and possibility. It is a portrait of life when it is held with care, when someone chooses to protect it and someone else to receive it. A work that celebrates the courage that sets free.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary, which inspired the artist, is a central symbol in Catholic devotion and represents pure love, holiness, and Mary’s total consecration to God. In this work, this sacred figure does not invoke miracles: she receives them. In her open hands there is no devotional gesture, but an invitation to let oneself be crossed by life as it changes form. The heart, suspended like a mystery yet as tangible as an organ in an operating room, becomes the pulsing center of a radical love: the kind that moves from loss to rebirth. The light does not descend from above, but seems to rise from the heart itself, as if biology had chosen to become revelation. Here the aesthetic is pop, and the sacred meets science without conflict: both seek the same thing, to keep someone alive. Virgin Mary becomes the mother of the possible: she does not shield from pain but accompanies through transformation. She is the image of a gift that asks for nothing in return, and precisely for this reason, saves.
