MuSMe Foundation

This quotation underpins the fundamental role of Padua’s Medical School amongst European universities between the 15th and 16th century and beyond.

Upon this premises, Padua’s Provincia – owner of the building – has promoted the complex restoration of the former Saint Francis the Greater Hospital, with the contribution of Regione Veneto, Comune di Padova and Società Autostrade Padova-Brescia – upon a project of the University of Padua – in order to convert it into a Museum capable of enhancing the legacy of the glorious past which has enlightened Europe through its own medical knowledge.

Back in 2008 Padua’s Provincia, the University of Padua, Regione Veneto, Comune di Padova, Azienda Ospedaliera and Azienda Unità Locale Socio Sanitaria n. 16 constituted the “Museum of the History of Medicine and Health in Padua Foundation” in order to collect, preserve and enhance the legacy of a medical and scientific Paduan culture that yesterday – as well as today – represents a worldwide excellence.

MUSME’s installation has been accomplished with the precious contribution of the Scientific Board and the contribution of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo.
